FAQ Check-in ticket with FAIRTIQ
Where can I travel with the FAIRTIQ app?
With the FAIRTIQ app, you can travel in the RVF and throughout Baden-Württemberg. The app automatically calculates the best fare: with the airline fare, you can travel throughout the Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg (RVF), i.e. in Freiburg and the two districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. You can also travel across the network border or in other networks in Baden-Württemberg. Here, too, you will always travel at the best price.
What is meant by Bestprice?
With FAIRTIQ, you always get the best price for a single journey. This means that you pay a maximum of what a ticket in the corresponding price level/tariff zone would cost with a digital discount.
When exactly do I have to start the app?
The FAIRTIQ app must be activated each time you start your journey and the travel authorisation must be purchased via smartphone before entering the vehicle (‘check in’). If the travel authorisation is only purchased after entering the vehicle, this is considered a journey without a valid ticket. The consequence: an increased fare in accordance with § 9 of the Conditions of Carriage.
What about transfers, return journeys and round trips?
The following applies on the RVF: once you have checked in, you can change as often as you like in the selected direction. If the journey is interrupted for more than 45 minutes, a new journey and therefore a new ticket will be charged. And for return and round trips, a new ticket is also charged from the furthest point from the boarding point.
Can I take someone with me?
In the FAIRTIQ app, you can take a second person with you for a fee. To do this, you must enter the person's name and date of birth.
How does the day limit work?
In the RVF, in addition to the Bestprice for a single journey, there is a daily limit if you make several journeys a day. Irrespective of the number of journeys, maximum fares based on distance (up to 10 / over 10 km) are not exceeded when calculating the price. The first boarding on a day counts until 3 a.m. on the following day.

What if I don't have a network?
GPS localisation is always possible, so it's not a problem if you don't have a network in the meantime. However, the localisation function must always be active in order to use the app.
What happens if I forget to check out?
If you forget to check out, your travel authorisation expires at the latest at 03:00 on the following day, regardless of the day of the week or public holiday. You will also be reminded of the forgotten check-out with a check-out warning. In addition, the so-called ‘Smart Stop’ function can recognise whether you have left public transport. If you activate this function in the app, the check-out will be carried out automatically.
